How to Start Advertising on ChatGPT in Thailand: Ads Manager Setup Checklist

Thai businesses advertise on ChatGPT through OpenAI's self-serve Ads Manager at ads.openai.com. Create an account for your Thai legal entity, enter your business details, complete verification through Persona, set your account name and logo, add a billing profile and card, make sure OpenAI's OAI-AdsBot crawler can reach your landing pages, then submit your first campaign for ad review. Ads start serving once the account, billing and ads have all been approved.

This checklist walks through each step in order, using OpenAI's own account setup guide and policy pages. Our ChatGPT Ads team in Bangkok handles this process end to end, and the notes below include the details that most often slow a Thai account down.

Can businesses in Thailand advertise on ChatGPT?

Yes. Thailand is listed as available for self-serve access on OpenAI's Ads Manager availability page. The rule that matters is where your company is based: the legal entity that advertises and is billed must be in a country listed as available. A company registered in Thailand qualifies.

Your industry must also be eligible. OpenAI reviews whether your products or services are allowed under its Ads Policies as part of verification, and its policy eligibility table shows that outside the United States many health categories are not allowed and several financial and legal categories are restricted or not allowed. Check your category before you apply.

One more rule applies to new accounts: some new self-serve accounts can at first advertise only in their home country. Eligibility for other supported countries follows once identity verification is approved and the account has reached the required spend from campaigns in its home country. For a Thai business targeting Thailand, that changes nothing.

Step 1: Who should create the Ads Manager account?

Your business should. OpenAI asks that each business has one account owner who creates the advertiser account and then invites the rest of the team. Sign in with an OpenAI account tied to your work email, or create one during sign-up.

If an agency manages your ads, you still create the account under your own business and invite the agency afterwards under Settings, then Users, then Invite. OpenAI's in-ChatGPT setup flow does not support agencies creating advertiser accounts on a client's behalf, and every advertiser needs its own account anyway. Owning the account keeps your billing, data and history in your hands.

Step 2: What business details do you need?

During sign-up you enter two sets of details:

  • Business details: business name, website, logo and industry.
  • Account details: country, currency and time zone.

Take care with the second set. OpenAI states that the country, billing currency and time zone chosen at sign-up cannot be changed later; fixing a mistake means creating a new account. A Thai business should choose Thailand, Thai baht and the Bangkok time zone. Your reports, budget weeks and invoices all follow these settings.

Use the legal business name and the website domain you will advertise. OpenAI checks that your advertiser identity matches your domain, and a mismatch can lead to a domain approval rejection.

Step 3: How does Persona verification work?

After you enter your business and account details, Ads Manager asks a few additional questions for account verification through Persona, an identity verification service. Once you finish, your application goes into review. OpenAI reviews applications in a rolling queue and emails the person who created the account when full platform access is ready.

  • Business verification can take up to seven business days.
  • OpenAI cannot expedite account review, so plan the launch date with that in mind.
  • Do not submit a second application while the first is in review. Duplicates do not skip the queue and can cause confusion about which account is yours.
  • Use accurate, current documents and business information. Inconsistent details slow review.

Keep in mind that verification, account approval, ad review and ad delivery are four separate checks. Passing one does not mean the others are done.

Step 4: How do you set up billing?

Campaigns cannot deliver until billing is complete. There are two parts:

  1. Billing profile: business name, invoice email and billing address, including the region and postal code fields where they appear.
  2. Payment method: a credit card with its billing address.

Use a card that matches your business country, because a card from another country may not be accepted. Your bank may show a temporary authorisation hold when you add the card; it is released after verification. Billing is postpay: your card is charged when spend reaches your account's payment threshold, and any balance is charged at month end. Add your tax ID under Billing, then Settings, so it appears on invoices. Our guide to ChatGPT Ads costs in Thailand explains the minimum budget and how charges work in detail.

Step 5: Why do the account name and logo matter?

Once OpenAI emails you that access is granted, open Settings, then Account info, and check that the account name and logo are exactly how you want them to appear in your ads. Every ChatGPT ad shows your advertiser name and favicon, so these two fields are part of every ad you run. OpenAI states that ads will not serve until this step is complete.

Use a simple, square version of your logo that stays readable at small sizes, and a name customers recognise, such as your trading name rather than a long legal suffix, as long as it still represents your business accurately.

Step 6: How do you give OAI-AdsBot access to your landing pages?

OpenAI uses crawlers to check that landing pages are safe and comply with its policies, and it may use landing page content to decide when your ad is relevant. According to OpenAI's crawler guidance for advertisers, you must allow OAI-AdsBot, and OpenAI recommends allowing OAI-SearchBot as well. A landing page the crawler cannot reach will hold up ad review.

Check three layers with whoever manages your website:

  1. robots.txt: make sure the paths your ads link to are not disallowed. An explicit rule looks like this:
    User-agent: OAI-AdsBot
    Allow: /

    User-agent: OAI-SearchBot
    Allow: /
  2. Firewall, CDN and bot protection: security services can block crawlers with 403 errors. OAI-AdsBot is verified and allowlisted by Cloudflare; for other providers, allowlist OpenAI's crawler user agents. OpenAI publishes its crawler IP ranges if your security team needs them.
  3. Human checks: CAPTCHAs, JavaScript challenges and login walls block automated visitors, so exempt OpenAI's crawlers or keep ad landing pages free of them.

Link your ads to ordinary, directly reachable web pages. App-store links, deep links and pages behind logins or regional blocks may not give the crawler enough to review. This is also the moment to install your tracking, before any ad goes live; our step-by-step guide to ChatGPT Ads conversion tracking covers the Pixel, the Conversions API and LINE leads.

Step 7: What happens during ad review?

Every ad is reviewed before it can serve. Build your first campaign, ad groups and ads, turn them on, and watch the status column in Ads Manager. If an ad shows as Not serving, hover over the status to see why. The common causes are copy or landing pages that conflict with the Ads Policies, and landing pages that block OpenAI's crawlers.

  • Fix the issue, then edit and resubmit the ad.
  • If you believe a rejection is wrong, use the appeal option or the Request Review button in Ads Manager. OpenAI describes an appeal as the fastest route.
  • For a new campaign with no delivery and no visible blocker, allow at least 24 hours after launch before reporting a problem.

Once ads are serving, impressions, clicks and click-through rate refresh about every 15 minutes, while spend can lag by seven to eight hours. Before you write your first ads, read our guides to writing ChatGPT ads that get clicks and to how ChatGPT Ads compare with Google Ads.
